Stripe-cheeked Woodpecker
Piculus callopterus

This Panamanian endemic is found only infrequently in the area around Cerro Azul; limited, historic reports from areas to the west are of dubious origin. As is the case of many forest woodpeckers the species is likely in decline, and reports even from Cerro Azul are few and far between.
