Spotted Barbtail
Premnoplex brunnescens

Spotted Barbtail was not known from central Panama at the publication of the most recent edition of Birds of Panama, but has since proven to be reasonably common at Cerro Gaital and particularly at Altos del Maria. The first record for Coclé was credited to Michael Harvey in June of 2005; Michael and I noted the first of this species for western Panamá Province almost exactly a month later. I have since noted this handsome furnariid in the area with increasing frequency.
