Spot-breasted Woodpecker
Colaptes punctigula

Spot-breasted Woodpecker is another species that occupies a spot on the Canopy Tower's birdlist without my being aware of any specific sighting. Given that the preferred habitat of this species is mangroves I must assume that it has found at Tocumen Marsh or thereabouts. As is the case with many picids it occupies a habitat that is under increasing pressure from human incursion, so any sighting reports are quite welcome.
