Rufous-browed Tyrannulet
Phylloscartes superciliaris

Rufous-browed Tyrannulet is one of the premier "gap fillers" of recent years, that is to say the species found at Altos del Maria since 2005 that previously were not known from the area between western Coclé and eastern Panamá Provinces. Michael Harvey earned the first regional record in early July of 2005, and a couple of weeks later I was with him when we found another Rufous-browed Tyrannulet at the eastern edge of Altos. It is seen somewhat infrequently, although heard often, as it tends to lurk in the treetops; I have been fortunate to observe it on a couple of occasions since my first.
