Ochraceous Wren
Troglodytes ochraceus

Until the summer of 2005 Ochraceous Wren was little -known from central Panama, with only a few sight records from Cerro Campana (just west of the Canal), and was considered basically a bird of the western and eastern highlands. But in June of 2005 Michael Harvey and Danilo Rodríguez found a good-sized population of Ochraceous Wrens at Altos del Maria, and later that summer at Cerro Gaital, the first record for anywhere in Coclé Province. In several subsequent trips to both areas I have rarely failed to at least hear this species. Ochraceous Wren generally forages in mossy epiphytes near the treetops, so is quite hard to photograph; I've collected nice audio recordings of this species but not even a frame of crappy video. Please forward even modest images of this species to The Canopy Report!
