| This small heron is encountered in Panama rather sporadically, perhaps in part due to its rather skulking nature. I've been fortunate to find it twice at the Ammo Dump ponds, which seems to be the most regular locale for this species in the region. Interestingly, Least Bittern was not recorded from western Panama until late 2005. Evidence of breeding activity would be of particular interest. |
