Fasciated Tiger-Heron
Tigrisoma fasciatum

This handsome bird is infrequently reported in central Panama, although it may be often overlooked. It is certainly considerably less common than its congener, Rufescent Tiger-Heron, and all sightings should be carefully documented. The most recent sighting of which I am aware was at the Ammo Dump ponds in mid-September of 2006 by Carlos Bethancourt et al, with an excellent photograph by Dustin Huntington (shown below).
