Blue-and-gold Tanager
Bangsia arcaei

The striking Blue-and-gold Tanager is a species of the foothills and highlands that seems to be reported with decreasing frequency from central Panama in recent years. Canopy Tower records likely refer to sightings at Cerro Azul/Jefe, where it is still a really good find. I believe this species is possible at Altos del Maria or Cerro Gaital, as there are records from areas not too far to the west. Blue-and-gold Tanager is certainly a red-letter bird anywhere in central Panama!
