Black-whiskered Vireo is currently not found on the Canopy Tower's birdlist, but I've scrounged up
a couple of recent reports. The first, from Plantation Trail in 1998, does not even offer the name of the observer(s), so must
immediately be considered dubious. But the second, from Semaphore Hill in 2002, was submitted by Panamanian birders of excellent reputation,
so must be considered at least somewhat credible. There are a scattering records of this species from around Panama, so the possibility that it is a rare
and easily overlooked migrant certainly is plausible. See Ridgely for identification criteria, and for god's sake collect a photo!
