Black Phoebe
Sayornis nigricans

Black Phoebe is certainly a familiar species to birders of the American southwest, and is easily found in western Panama. But the birds found south of Altos del Maria by Michael Harvey and Danilo Rodriguez in August of 2005 were the first recorded between Chiriquí and eastern Panamá Provinces. They later showed me the spot (although I did not find the phoebes), a rushing river just below the village of Sorá. I am uncertain as to the frequency of subsequent sightings.
