Black-and-white Becard
Pachyramphus albogriseus

The inclusion of Black-and-white Becard on the Canopy Tower and Lodge's Birdlist is at this writing a great mystery to me. It is considered a bird of the western highlands, and the nearest report I've been able to find is from above Santa Fé in eastern Veraguas Province (close enough that it would merit inclusion on my list of potential finds in the central region). I consider it unlikely that professional Panamanian guides would confuse Black-and-white with White-winged Becard, as the latter species is seen quite regularly, but if the reports come from anywhere around the Canal area I would suspect that the bird was most likely a Cinereous Becard (reported occasionally from Madden Lake, just east of the Canal), which is currently on my potential list. I hope to clear up this mystery within a few weeks.
