Bicolored Hawk
Accipiter bicolor

This distinctive forest raptor is rare enough that I am unaware of any recent reports, although it is found on the Canopy Tower's birdlist. Perhaps most likely in the deeper forest along Pipeline Road.

In July of 2007, on his vacation time, Armidio Rodríguez of the Canopy Lodge explored a road at Altos del Maria that led deep into the Caribbean slope- there he saw a Bicolored Hawk, his life bird. Ken Allaire and José Tejada also saw one near Burbayar Lodge in eastern Panamá Province; José is a prolific birder, with a Panamá list approaching 850 species, and this was only the third time he had seen Bicolored Hawk.
