From the Archives of The Canopy Report:

April 13, 2007: Agami Heron, Rufous-crested Coquette

April 13th, 2007.

A couple of secondhand reports at this time: on the Xenornis website, Darién Montañez reports that the Summit Ponds Agami Heron was relocated on April 4th, with a little help from the Canopy Tower's Carlos Bethancourt. This avian gem was first found by David Mandell and Jay Withgott on February 26th, and has since been seen sporadically by Tower tour groups. Raúl Arias de Para also reports that the Rufous-crested Coquette is being seen lately at the Canopy Lodge; it is unclear as to whether this species has been seen continously since last reported in January, or whether it had disappeared for the intervening months, but, given the past history of this splendid hummingbird's appearances in El Valle, it seems likely that this bird will remain at least throught the early part of the rainy season.
